Our offices are dispersed across Holbrook, Culcairn and Jindera, all a short drive to the shore of Lake Hume.

We offer a broad range of services such as swimming pools, libraries and childcare services through to waste collection, planning permits and major capital works development. We enjoy delivering a high standard of meaningful, varied work to our diverse rural communities.

About the position:

This multi-faceted role will also include overseeing Council’s Customer Relations and Library team and will work closely with the community to enhance community engagement and utilization of our services and high standards of customer service delivery. The role also involves ensuring Record Management practices are performed to best practice standards.

The Manager Governance & Risk position is based at the Holbrook office but work can be arranged from other offices that includes Culcairn, Jindera or Albury. The position operates under the Local Government State (NSW) Award and is based on a 70-hour, 9-day fortnight work arrangement. This role offers a remuneration package ranging from $137,000 to $154,000 (depending on experience) gross per year plus superannuation and a leaseback vehicle.

What we are looking for:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant area or other related discipline and substantial experience working in similar role at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of local government governance, risk and assurance frameworks.
  • Excellent knowledge of governance and risk frameworks, ideally related to the NSW Local Government sector, including interpretation of legislation, legislation reforms, reporting, meeting and decision-making procedures, elections, policy and strategy development.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive working relationships and prepare high-quality reports, correspondence and governance documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and apply legislation, regulations and policy requirements, and translate complex information into practical outcomes.
  • Well- developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of accuracy and achieving quality outcomes.
  • Commitment to public sector ethics, EEO and WH&S principles.
  • Proficiency in IT and financial management software.
  • Current Class C Driver License.

What we offer:

  • Work-life balance, working 35-hours per week across a 9-day fortnight
  • 12% Superannuation contribution, with optional salary sacrifice
